Exploring Luxurious Mountain Rentals

Written By: Julie Hostetter

Check in to the Antlers Ridge Lodge in Dawsonville for a “Mountain Chic” Getaway

AT FIRST BLUSH from the outside, Antlers Ridge Lodge in Dawsonville looks like a typical family cabin in the mountains. That is, until you step inside and gaze at its luxe interior and special touches that will make you feel right at home … and never want to leave.

Owners, Guillermo Rojos and Tessie Fernandez from Fort Lauderdale call it “Boho chic” with a mix of vintage, natural, modern and casual pieces to create the epitome of tranquility. Bathed in blues and creams, the entire interior of the cabin on this 9-acre woodland retreat has been completely refurbished into a spiritual sanctuary. “Our goal is to make the guests not only feel at home, but that we are thinking of them during their stay and want them to ‘relax, disconnect and enjoy,’” adds Tessie.

The five-bedroom, three-bath cabin includes a full-size kitchen, dining room with seating for six, an antique 1979 Fisher Grampa III wood stove, fully stocked coffee bar, six big screen 4K Smart televisions, WiFi, Sonos wireless speakers on both levels and a jam-packed game room with arcade games, foosball table, card and board games, dartboard and pool table. But the main attraction would be the two outdoor terraces and screened-in porches lined with Edison lights for the perfect party atmosphere in the evenings. Well, that and a hot tub and a fire pit with mountain views.

You’ll find everything you need and more, from “Pinterest ready” candy, snack and coffee bar complete with Keurig & Italian Espresso Maker to kitchen staples “I always seem to forget” but are so rarely provided, such as paper plates, plastic bags, sugars, creamers, hot chocolate packets, microwavable popcorn, and firewood for the wood stove and fire pit. And as a cherry on top they also offer special amenities like walking sticks, walkie talkies, binoculars and a telescope for stargazing. Tessie even gives a beautiful welcome basket to her guests, which includes local wine, honey and other treats to make you feel right at home and even seasonally decorates the home for fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s and July 4th!

Another unique offering is its layout, which lends itself to a “party atmosphere” for extended family or friends. (Please note: Request and permission must be given to have guests over the approved rental guest count.)

And with its premier location, guests are perfectly perched to visit Burt’s Farm just five minutes away, which is now open in spring and summer for strawberry season and more (see our strawberry picking article on page 45). And the cabin is a mere hop, skip and jump from Amicalola Falls State Park, not to mention incredible hiking, local wineries, tubing adventures and quaint area towns, so you might want to extend your stay for a three-night weekend or more.
