Rockfest 30 at Tellus Science

Event Details

GEM, MINERAL, FOSSIL, AND JEWELRY DEALERS from across the country will display and sell their wares at Tellus Science Museum. See rare and exotic jewelry, ancient fossils, and rocks from around the world that can be purchased for your own collection. Enjoy demonstrations and activities for kids!  All dealers will honor the Tellus member discount so members can save 10% off your purchase (minimum purchase may be required).

• MINERAL IDENTIFICATION
Bring your own geologic treasures and have them identified by Tellus experts.

• ROCK KNAPPING
Megan Kilgore, a 5th year anthropology PhD candidate at Emory University will provide a demonstration on how to make basic, Oldowan-style stone tools.

• LAPIDARY DEMONSTRATIONS
Watch cabochon and faceted gemstone demonstrations.

• GEODE CRACKIN’
Purchase your own geode and have it cracked open to see what treasure you might find inside.

• DOOR PRIZES
RockFest dealers have provided door prizes to be given away every hour.

• GRAND PRIZE
Event guests can register to win a beautiful amethyst specimen to be given away at the end of the event.

• KIDS ACTIVITIES
Rock & Bead Necklaces – Use your artistic creativity and make a rock and bead necklace.
Rock Bingo – Learn about rocks and minerals as you play Rock Bingo. Winners will get a prize!
