Explore More: Cumming From Natural Wonders to Happening Hotspots

Written By: Brittany Dean

Home to both historic natural wonders like the Indian Seats at Sawnee Mountain Preserve as well as the newest talk of the town, Cumming City Center, Cumming in Forsyth County offers much to discover. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains about 40 miles north of Atlanta, this suburb whose motto is “Gateway to Leisure Living” hasn’t allowed growth to tarnish its small-town roots. Check out these hotspots while in town.

Sawnee Mountain Preserve

Hike to the top of the mountain for breathtaking views of North Georgia and beyond from the Indian Seats, natural rock and boulder formations steeped in Native American history. Choose from the shorter 1.5-mile trail from mid-mountain or the longer 3.6 mile-loop from the Visitors Center and enjoy amenities like picnic pavilions, rock climbing and a whimsical Fairy Trail.

Lake Burrito

Locals describe Lake Burrito as “fresh tastes with fun vibes.” Drop in for a flavorful breakfast burrito before a day on Lake Lanier, or meet friends for a fun-filled brunch. Though not actually located on the lake, a casual coastal atmosphere makes you feel like you’re already on the water.
