DO SOME GOOD FOR YOUR COMMUNITY—and yourself—with an outdoor service project that allows volunteers to make a difference while taking in some fresh fall air in wide-open spaces. September 26 is Your State Parks Day, a collaborative effort at various Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites around North Georgia.
Help clean up the woods at Victoria Bryant State Park in Royston, spruce up flower beds at Traveler’s Rest Historic Site in Toccoa, clear the beach area at Richard B. Russell State Park in Elberton, assist with trail work and landscaping at New Echota Historic Site in Calhoun, or pitch in on garden clearing and nature trail upkeep at Chief Vann House Historic Site in Chatsworth.

In a similar effort, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s Rivers Alive program is an annual waterway cleanup event that works to preserve water resources across the state each fall. Projects include the Great Lake Allatoona Clean Up in Acworth, Cartersville and Canton on October 3, and Lake Chatuge Shoreline Cleanup in Hiawassee on November 7.
