A North Georgia staple for more than 87 years, the North Georgia Fair has officially been canceled for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the first time since World War II the event will not take place..
In a statement posted on the North Georgia Fair’s Facebook page, organizers said, “It is an extremely tough day for our fair family. Every thought and consideration has gone into making this very difficult decision. On behalf of our Fair board, staff, vendors, sponsors, entertainers, exhibitors, Drew Expositions, and volunteers; we thank you all for over 87 years of Fair fun. We will be back better than ever in 2021.”
They went on to say they are in the early stages of preparing a “Taste of the Fair” drive-thru food experience to take place to give fairgoers a hint of the event. The event is being proposed to take place in the main parking lot of Jim Miller Park over September 26-28 and October 2-4.
